MEET MARIA

Nature is the beginning.

Maria Victor Xenofontos, founder and creator of MOSSY MOSS. An artist’s eye for the natural world.

A MOSSY MOSS artwork on an easel in the studio
PHOTOGRAPHY. DESIGN. NATURE.

A different way
of seeing.

Maria’s background in photography, graphic design and interior design informs every composition. Preserved moss is her medium for exploring colour, texture and the relationship between nature and a room.

MOSSY MOSS began with the idea of bringing nature indoors in an effortless, individual way. The work takes inspiration from landscapes, organic movement and the imperfect beauty of natural materials.

Each piece is considered in relation to its surroundings. Each has a character of its own.

08 / THE HAND BEHIND THE COMPOSITION

Maria Victor
Xenofontos.

Photography taught her to look. Graphic and interior design inform her sense of composition. Moss gives that way of seeing a material.

Maria Victor Xenofontos creates MOSSY MOSS in Cyprus, working with the colour, texture and imperfect character of preserved nature.

06 / NATURE, WITH A DIFFERENT ROUTINE

Preserved moss is real moss.
It no longer grows. The texture stays.

01No water.Put the watering can away.

02No sunlight.A wall away from direct sun is best.

03No pruning.Nothing to trim. Nothing to grow.

Keep it indoors, away from heat and excessive humidity. Handle gently; remove dust carefully when needed.

09 / SOMETHING ONLY YOUR WALL COULD HOLD

Begin with
an empty wall.
Or a wild idea.

A long, narrow space. A colour you keep coming back to. The dimensions of a room that is entirely yours. Bring Maria the starting point.
